Kenya’s national cricket team produced a famous upset, defeating Zimbabwe by 18 runs in the opening match of their three-game T20 series at the Nairobi Gymkhana on Tuesday.

Chasing a modest target, Zimbabwe were kept in check by tight bowling in the death overs, with Kenya’s death-overs specialist taking three wickets in the final two overs to seal the win.

“This is a massive result for Kenyan cricket,” said the team captain after the match. “We’ve shown we can compete with full-member nations, and now we want to make it two from two.”

The second match of the series takes place on Friday, with Kenya looking to seal the series ahead of the decider.
