Legendary distance runner Eliud Kipchoge has hinted that he may run one more marathon before calling time on his illustrious career, telling reporters in Eldoret that he is “listening to his body” ahead of a decision later this year.
The two-time Olympic champion and former marathon world record holder has not confirmed which race he is targeting, but sources close to his camp suggest a return to Berlin, the scene of two of his record-breaking runs, is being considered.
“I have given everything to this sport, and the sport has given me everything back,” Kipchoge said. “When the time comes to stop, I want to stop on my own terms, with my head held high.”
Kipchoge’s management team is expected to make an official announcement within the next two months.
