Kenyan singer and businesswoman Akothee has officially opened the Akothee Foundation Children’s Home in Migori County, providing shelter and education to over 200 vulnerable children.

The facility, built at a cost of KSh 45 million, includes a school block, dormitories, a medical bay, and a vocational training centre. The project was funded through her foundation and contributions from international donors.

“Every child deserves a chance,” Akothee said during the opening ceremony. “I was once in their shoes. I know what it feels like to have nothing.”

The foundation also announced 200 full scholarships for children in Migori and Homa Bay counties, covering fees from primary school through Form Four.
